Medrean City Transit Authority, also known as MCTA, is the operator of mass transit within the City of Medrean City and some of its surrounding suburbs. The MCTA is a municipal corporation that started operations on April 25th, 1961 upon the purchase and combination of the transportation assets of the Medrean City Rapid Transit Company and the Medrean Surface Lines streetcar system. In 1952. Today, the MCTA is one of the three service boards financially supported by the Psylone Transportation Authority.
Operation
The Medrean City Transit Authority provides service to Medrean City and 20 surrounding suburbs. The MCTA provided a total of 530.5 million rides in 2013. MCTA operates 24 hours each day and on an average weekday provides 1.7 million rides on buses and subways. It has approximately 1000 buses that operate over 90 routes traveling along 2,230 route miles (3,658 km). Buses provide about one million passenger trips a day and serve more than 9,000 posted bus stops. The Medrean City Transit Authority's 6 subway operate over eight routes and 222 miles (357 km) of track. Its trains provide about 750,000 customer trips each weekday and serve 144 stations in Medrean City.
