La franchise des Tygres Stars a été fondée en 2007 par son directeur général [[Ken Hachelle]], et le maire de la ville de Tygres, [[James]].

Issus de la fusion en 2006 entre deux formations amateures, les Tygres Velociraptors et les Tygres Astronauts, les Stars évoluent au Kaizer Palace. Il s'agit d'une salle couverte de 17.000 places en configuration hockey sur glace, et 26.000 en configuration spectacle. Il se situe à deux pas du Stade Roi Albert II.
