Historique
L'aéroport de Tarbonne-Saint.Philippe a ouvert ses portes en juin 2000 et à été fermé dix ans plus tard; en effet, arrivé à saturation, la décision de construire un nouvel aéroport afin d'accueillir une plus grande capacité d'aéronefs et de passagers à été prise par la CATM qui gère la plateforme à travers la Société Mixte des Aéroports Tarbonne-Métropole. L'emplacement retenu a été fixé au nord ouest de l'ancien aéroport, après l'Ecole Supérieure d'Aéronautique. L'aéroport de Tarbonne-Saint.Philippe a fermé le 27 mai 2010, date d'inauguration du nouvel aéroport. Le nouvel aéroport qui accueille déjà près de 2 000 000 de passagers par an tend à développer un trafic régional tout en améliorant les dessertes nationales et internationales. Depuis septembre 2010, l'aéroport est le hub d'Air Meridional.

L'aéroport dispose de 2 pistes d'une longueur de 3000 mètres chacune permettant d'accueillir les gros porteurs; son aérogare est formée de 2 terminaux avec 15 passerelles permettant un accès directs aux appareils, secondées par 24 parkings hors-contact. Le public trouvera à sa disposition 4 parkings surveillés dont un couvert. L'aéroport dispose enfin d'un service de navette faisant une boucle entre l'aérogare, les parkings et la zone hôtelière; il est également possible de rejoindre Tarbonne par un bus de la CATM appelé "l'AéroNavette".

D'une capacité d'accueil d'1,5 millions de passagers, la surface de l'aérogare est de 40000m2.
Le terminal principal accueille les boutiques, la zone publique, les comptoirs d'enregistrement et une salle d'embarquement;
le "satellite" (ou terminal 2) est un long couloir permettant de se rendre aux différentes portes d'embarquement; on y trouve aussi des boutiques détaxées et des restaurants.
Le wifi est accessible dans toute l'aérogare.
- Zone d'activités aéronautiques
Ce pôle d'activités est l'un des 8 pôles gérés par la CATM; les entreprises qui s'y trouvent font parties du secteur aéronautique, avec notamment la SOCAMA qui construit les avions de tourisme TBM850 et TBM20G.
